MUD 370’s contract with Texas Pride expires on February 29, 2024. As a result the MUD has been evaluating various options and has elected to award the contract to Best Trash LLC (https://best-trash.com/ ). The decision was based on a positive interview with Best Trash’s owner, their solid infrastructure, their strong customer base and positive reports from other MUD’s utilizing their services. Their trucks are equipped with both GPS and 360 degree cameras for both real time and archived monitoring. We reviewed their BBB report, there were complaints dealing with billing payment system, which will not impact our residents since MUD 370 handles all payment transactions with Service Providers. Complaints dealing with service were minimal considering the number of residents served and the responses by Best were reasonable.
The landscape of the Trash and Recycling business has changed significantly in the past few years with some companies exiting the residential trash business while others have transitioned to once a week pick up with a one person crew and robotic loading arm. The trucks with robotic arms also require strict adherence to how/where trash is to be placed at the curb and require utilizing their very large trash/recycling containers. It was the judgement of the MUD 370 Board that with the Houston climate it was desirable to continue with twice a week pick up. In the Houston area there are currently only 2 companies providing twice a week manual pick up – Best Trash and Texas Pride.
MUD 370 has secured a 5 year contract with Best Trash for trash and recycling services with allowances for annual CPI adjustments.
Best Trash LLC will be placing door hangers providing information regarding the transition.
Below is a summary of the primary changes:
- February 29th will be the last day of service by Texas Pride – Leave your recycling containers out to be picked up by Texas Pride.
- Best Trash will be delivering both trash carts (65 gallon) and recycling carts (48 gallon) on or about March 1.
- New trash pick-up days will be on Wednesday (trash and recycling) and Saturday (trash only).
- There will be an increase in your Trash and Sewer bill (from TNG) of \$5.32/month. Note: There has been no increase to residents in the past 5 years. This is a cost pass through of charges from Best Trash and it is in line with current local rates.
